On Thursday, the Junior Black golf team traveled to Harrisonburg to take on the Eastern Mennonite team at Heritage Oaks GC. The weather was ideal, 79 degrees with a light breeze. Third former and medalist, Timothy Walter, was the medalist for the match with a 37 (+3) to lead the Tigers to a 152-177 victory. Other contributions came from fourth former's Bennett DuPont and Jack Dalrymple, both with 38's.

JV beats St. Catherine's and St. Gertrude's
On Tuesday, the Woodberry JV golfers opened their season at home versus St. Catherine's and St. Gertrude's. The match was cut to six holes because of the late tee off time. Nevertheless, the JV squad won 110 (WFS)- 134(St. Catherine's)- 146 (St. Gertrude's). Individual scores were as follows:

Jr. Black notches two more wins
Using its home course advantage on a windy day the Jr. Black golf squad won its first home match. The Tigers posted a combined score of 168, edging out the Blue Ridge team who shot 171, and easily beating the Eastern Mennonite score of 207. The medalist for Jr. Black was the 6th man, Starling Gamble, who shot a 5 over round of 40, clinching the win.

Woodberry wins season opener vs. St. Chris
The Tigers battled the elements (cool temps and strong 20+ MPH winds) and the Saints in their 2010 opener and came away victorious, 158-163. Fifth former Milt Barber led the way with a three over par 38, followed closely by captain Thomas Walter (39) and fourth former Shep Hardison (39). Bryce Chalkley of St. Christopher's was the medalist with a 36.
Woodberry plays next Tuesday at Trinity Episcopal.

St. Christopher's match site changed
The Tigers' match Tuesday, March 30 with St. Christopher's has been moved from CCV-Westhampton to Woodberry Forest. The starting time is still 4 PM.
Junior Black Wins Opener
Despite the cold and rough winds, the Junior Black Golf squad was able to pull out a win against Mercersburg on Saturday. The match was played at Mercersburg's Whitetail Golf Resort where the teams competed in a nine-hole match. The match consisted of eight players, but only the top six scores counted to the teams total. The final score was Jr. Black 252, Mercersburg 264. Fourth Former Charles Blaydes was the medalist for the Woodberry team with a 39. The individual scores were as follows:
