Even though he bogied his final hole, Will Strickler '04 received his PGA tour card today. He was the last of 25 qualifiers to receive his card and will be eligible to play in about 20 PGA Tour events next year starting in Hawaii. Will shot (-9) over six rounds at Orange County National Golf Center & Lodge in Winter Garden, FL.
At Woodberry Forest, Will was a two-time All Prep golfer. He won the Prep League Tournament as a junior, and was captain during his senior year. He won a scholarship to the University of Florida, where he was captain he senior year and helped the Gators to the NCAA Finals.
During the last two years,Will has been playing events on the Canadian Tour and the Nationwide Tour.

Tigers finish 2-3 in MAPGA tournament
Fourth Former William Knibbs fired a second round 74 to finish in second place (147) at the Middle Atlantic PGA Junior Golf Tournament at the Shenandoah Valley GC in Front Royal, VA. Knibbs was edged by Cas Dickerson (146), who holed out from 116 yards on the 16th hole, en route to an even par 71.
Bennett duPont finished tied for third (150), after shooting a 78. Other scores included:
Timothy Walter t10th 80-82 = 162
Shep Hardison 13th 82 -82 = 164
Brandon Gilbert 18th 93 -84 =177

Tigers leading MAPGA Turkey Trot Tournament
Fifth Former Bennett duPont fired a +1 round of 72 to take the lead in the Middle Atlantic PGA Junior Golf Tournament Saturday, November 6. The 36-hole event is being held at the Shenandoah Valley GC, in Front Royal, VA. The field played the 6200 layout in just over 81.
Just one shot behind duPont is fourth former William Knibbs (73). Other Tigers playing in the two day event are Shep Hardison (82), Timothy Walter (82), and Brandon Gilbert (93).

Thomas Walter '10 makes Bucknell golf team
Thomas Walter '10 (Darien, CT) played in the the Richmond Intercollegiate tournament on October 11-12 at Independence GC, shooting 75-80-78. Walter and his Bucknell Bison teammates finished 11th.
Bucknell next plays at Kiawah Island on November 1-2.

Fall golf 2010 begins
Twelve golfers joined Coach Hogan this week to start another fall season. Ten returning varsity and junior varsity players have decided to work on their games this autumn, led by senior co-captain James Walter. Two new students, fourth formers William Knibbs and Ty Johnson, have also joined the group.
The Tigers will host their own invitational tournament on Friday, September 24. Other events include an alumni outings to Charlottesville and Culpeper, as well as playing in a local junior tournament. PGA teacher and Golf Magazine contributor Ron Gring will return to WFS on Oct. 1-3 for a clinic.

Pete Heck '10 shines as new member of Kenyon golf team
Pete Heck '10 from Chestertown, MD, successfully walked onto the Kenyon golf team this fall. In the team's first tournament, Heck was the team medalist at the Denison University Fall Classic, shooting rounds of 79-77 for a 23rd place finish overall.
