Walter brothers golf update

A report from Andrew Walter on his sons:

We watched Thomas '10 play in the Bucknell Invitational this weekend, pictured above, and he finished 9th, shooting 76-73-73 for a 222.  It was his best finish in college so far.

Timothy '13 played in his first college tournament this weekend and shot 77-78.  He said the course was about 7300 yards and pretty difficult so it was a good start for him.

Lastly, James '11 is studying abroad this term at the University of St. Andrew's in Scotland, playing lots of golf.

Irrigation project will benefit golf course

Crews are on campus burying pipes to bring water from Robertson Lake to Woodberry Forest's nine-hole golf course, varsity baseball's Murrell Field, Finch Track, and soccer fields Palamar Field and Hazel 1. This will be the first time the golf course's fairways will have irrigation, thereby improving the course's playability and appearance.

The lake, which was built through the generosity of Russ Robertson to honor her husband, A. Stuart Robertson ’35, was dedicated in 2011 and provides recreational opportunities such as boating, fishing, and hunting. Once complete, the new irrigation project will supply a sustainable source of water to Woodberry's athletic facilities using a high-efficiency, computer-controlled sprinkler system and weather station. The water pumped from Robertson Lake will also be available for emergency fire suppression.
