Woodberry edged by Collegiate

Collegiate (Richmond) edged Woodberry Forest Friday, 156-159. It was the Tigers first lost at home since March 2009, when Woodberry lost to a traveling team of British schoolboy golfers. Mark Hourigan from Collegiate was the medalist with an even par score of 35.

Junior Black and JV teams remain undefeated

On Tuesday, both the JB and JV golf squads traveled in a long bus ride to Golden Eagle Golf Club at the Tides Inn to face Christchurch. Both teams stayed undefeated, easily winning against the Christchurch golf teams. The Junior Black team is now 7-0 after defeating Christchurch 164-208. Timothy Walter (third form) was the medalist of that match with a two over par, 38. The JV team as well moved to 7-0 and won easily 181-237. Greg McIntosh  (sophomore) was medalist with a six over round of 42. The scores for both matches are listed below:

Junior Black Beats FUMA

Last Friday, the Junior Black golf team played a long match against Fork Union here at Woodberry. The Tigers continued to show why they are undefeated as third formers Timothy Walter (36 ) and Billy Mott (37) lead the way. The Tigers had little difficulty and were able to win 153-210. Woodberry wins third straight Disharoon Cup

Woodberry Forest won its third consecutive Disharoon Cup match vs. St. Paul's School (Baltimore) Saturday afternoon at Caves Valley Golf Club. The match play event awards points in both singles and fourball competitions. Fourth formers Bennett duPont and Jack Dalrymple swept their matches, earning the maximum 7 points. Not far behind were fourth Shep Hardison and fifth former Charlie Moore who earned 6 1/2 points.

This event honors Les Disharoon, founder of Caves Valley and grandfather of two Woodberry students, the late Greg Tolzmann (2000) and Brett Morris (2003).
