Tigers finish 6th in VSGA Invitational

Woodberry Forest shot 310 in the second round of the 2010 VSGA High School Invitational Wednesday. The Tigers moved up one spot to finish 6th out of the 23 teams competing. Senior co-captain James Walter fired an even par 72, while teammates Tyler Grills (79), Bennett duPont (79), and Jack Dalrymple (80) completed the scoring. Fourth former Timothy Walter had a second round 84.


The sixth place finish was Woodberry Forest's best result in this tournament since 2007, when the Tigers finished third.

2010 VSGA High School Invitational

The Tigers opened the new season Tuesday, August 24 with the first round of the VSGA High School Invitational. The tournament field of 23 public and private high school teams played in windy, cool conditions at the Independence Golf Club in Midlothian.


Woodberry Forest shot 308, good enough for 7th place, and just three shots out of third. Fourth former Timothy Walter led the way with an even par round of 72. Walter's round puts him in fourth place going into the final round. Fifth former Bennett duPont was next with a 75. Also competiting for the Tigers are fifth formers Jack Dalrymple (80), Tyler Grills (81), and senior co-captain James Walter (81).

The tournament concludes on Wednesday.
