Fresh off their VPL tournament win, the Tigers are one of eight teams selected to play in the third VISAA Division 1 state golf championship. This year's event will be held at Sleepy Hole Golf Club, in Suffolk, VA on Monday, May 17th. Woodberry's first tee time is 9:56 AM.
The Carlisle School of Martinsville is the two-time defending VISAA champion. Woodberry Forest finished second last year.

JV golf finishes perfect slate
On a cool, rainy Tuesday at Woodberry, the JV golfers easily defeated the Saints to conclude their season at 9-0. Third former Billy Mott was the medalist with a 38.

Woodberry goes back-to-back in VPL
Woodberry Forest successfully defended its Virginia Preparatory League golf title today at Independence Club in Midlothian. The Tigers shot 594 (294-300) to win the 36-hole event over St. Christopher's by eleven strokes
In Woodberry's opening round, fourth former Shep Hardison fired an even par 72 on the 6300-yard Tom Fazio layout to lead the way. Fourth former Bennett duPont and third former Timothy Walter were one shot back (73). Senior captain Thomas Walter shot 76. The Tigers had a five stroke lead over Collegiate.
On day two, fifth former Milt Barber was first off and fired a 74. Classmate Charlie Moore followed with a 77, and Thomas Walter then shot the Tigers' low round of the day, 73. Bennett duPont came in the a 76 to round off the second day's team score. The Tigers withstood a charge by St. Christopher's, bettering the Saints' second day score, 300-303.
By virtue of their top ten individual finishes, Thomas Walter, Barber, duPont, Hardison, and Timothy Walter earned All-Prep status. Woodberry's win is the school's 24th VPL golf title since 1976.

Tigers in 1st place on day one of VPL
On Monday in the first day of the Virginia Prep League's annual tournament, Woodberry shot 294 (+6) to take a five-shot lead over Collegiate. The two-day tournament is being played at Independence Golf Club in Midlothian, VA. Fourth former Shep Hardison led the Tigers with an even par round of 72. Fourth former Bennett duPont and third former Timothy Walter each fired 73s, and captain Thomas Walter had a 76. As a group, the Tiger quartet was a collective one-under par on the back nine. Charlie Moore (77) and Milt Barber (80) round out the Woodberry squad.
The top 4 teams and 24 low individuals qualify for the second round Tuesday.

Varsity golf loses last regular season match
The Tigers traveled to Richmond Friday, and were defeated by St. Christopher's198-208 at the CCV-Westhampton course. Thomas Walter led Woodberry with a four over par round of 51 (12 holes).
Woodberry next plays in the Virginia Prep League tournament, Monday and Tuesday, at the Independence Golf Club in Midlothian.
