Woodberry Forest finishes 3rd in VISAA state golf tournament

In a driving rain storm in Suffolk, VA, the Tigers battled the elements and seven other teams in the third VISAA State Golf Championships.  Sleepy Hole Golf Course hosted the event for the first time. The 6500 yard par 72 layout took on lots of water, but managed to remain playable for the six hour round. Woodberry Forest's score of 314 placed them third, behind state champion Episcopal (309) and runner-up St. Christopher's (310). Two time defending state champion Carlisle finished fourth (316).

Captain Thomas Walter ended his Woodberry Forest career with perhaps his best round, a one over 73, earning All-State honors on the strength of his fourth place finish. Thomas overcame a triple bogey seven on his sixth hole, playing his last 12 holes two under par.
