Varsity golf loses to British All-star team: 8 1/2 to 3 1/2
Four Woodberry golfers joined with four golfers from St. Anne's Belfield yesterday at Farmington CC for a match against a touring group of British schoolboys. This group, known as the Swifts, has been coming to the US for competitions since 1969, and they first played against Woodberry Forest in 1973.
The format was eight individual singles matches and four fourball (better ball) matches. Each match was worth one point. Unfortunately, inclement weather shortened the match from 18 to 9 holes. The British team showed their class by handling the combined US team, 8.5 to 3.5.
Here are the individual scores and results. Farmington played 3370 yards, par 35 from the back tees.

New practice area helps golfers perfect pitching
Golfers beat EHS
The Tigers traveled to Alexandria and Belle Haven CC to face the Maroon of Episcopal on March 29, 2016. Led by Captain Peter Knade's and fifth former Basil Boyd's one-over-par 37's, Woodberry defeated Episcopal 152-163. Because of inclement weather, this was the first match between the schools since 2013.
Since 1986, Woodberry Forest leads the golf series, 21-4.

Peter Knade ’16 signs to play golf at University of Maryland
"When I first met Peter as a prospect," said Head Varsity Golf Coach Marc Hogan, "he told me his goal was to play golf at a division I school. Today brings him one step closer to doing that."
